Allied Telesis unveils highly resilient healthcare solution

Chiasso, Switzerland. 2010-06-16 – Allied Telesis, the leading provider of networking solutions, has unveiled a complete healthcare networking solution tailored to fulfill the demanding stability, security and capacity requirements of healthcare networks. The solution is highly resilient and can also be used as a central communications system connecting IP telephony with video streaming and data services.

The Allied Telesis Healthcare Network solution combines advanced quadruple play services such as IP telephony, video and data services via the wired and wireless LAN. The result is a universal network set-up that connects people and information, regardless of whether they are connected via a PDA, pager, laptop or PC.

Built on the company’s wide product portfolio and years of solution development and implementation in the healthcare industry, Allied Telesis’ Healthcare Network solution allows hospital IT managers to bundle systems compactly, while optimizing processes like patient care or internal operating workflows. Controlled access and special protective mechanisms enable a unified network topology whilst allowing for different user groups and varying applications. High transfer rates permit fast access to a large number of resources, especially important for the creation and extensive use of electronic health records.

The company has already implemented its healthcare solution at Kreiskliniken, the 591-bed Ludwig-Maximilians University medical college in Munich, Germany. Kreiskliniken’s dialysis rehabilitation and outpatient center treats 580,000 patients per year with a 1200-strong workforce.

“Today’s hospitals have more sophisticated multimedia needs than ever before, not only for patient care but also patient communications and entertainment. Healthcare networks therefore need to behave as a central communication system, allowing IT managers to balance the priorities and needs of different user groups,” said Christian Schwaiger, VP of Vertical Markets and Marketing Communications at Allied Telesis. “The Allied Telesis healthcare network solution, developed based on years of experience in system development in the sector, provides a dependable and simple one-stop-shop for IT managers in the healthcare industry.”

The Allied Telesis Healthcare Network solution is highly flexible, reliable, scalable and futureproof. It is built to open standards and can be seamlessly integrated with all common patient care systems. High transmission rates, fast access times and the integration of different data sources allows the efficient use of digital patient files.
